Abdul is an Illinois native who divides his time between Indianapolis and Springfield, IL. Although he serves as an "of counsel" with Lewis And Wilkins LLP, his "day job" is hosting "Abdul in the Mornings" on Newstalk 1430, WXNT-AM. His show airs weekdays from 5 - 9 a.m. And it has been labeled as the most politically influential radio program in Indiana. Abdul's program focuses on local, state and national issues. His list of guests have included Governor Mitch Daniels, Mayor Bart Peterson, House Speaker Brian Bosma and Democratic Leader Pat Bauer, as well as the heads of the Democratic, Republican and Libertarian Parties.

Abdul got his law degree from St. Louis University in January 2003. He graduated with honors and was named Outstanding Oralist in the law school's Moot Court Competition. While attending law school at night, Abdul was an aide to then Illinois Attorney General Jim Ryan serving in a media, policy and public affairs role. He was admitted to the Illinois Bar in June 2003. In addition to his law school education, Abdul holds a Master's Degree in Public Affairs Reporting from the University of Illinois at Springfield and a Degree in Communications and Journalism from Northern Illinois University.

Abdul has extensive political and public policy experience. He has covered politics in both Indiana and Illinois. He is a Visiting Fellow at the Illinois Policy Institute, a free-market think tank in Springfield, IL. He is a columnist for the Indianapolis Business Journal and also contributes to Indianabarrister.com as a blogger and to the Howey Political Report. He also teaches Speech Communications at Ivy Tech Community College as an adjunct faculty member.

Abdul is a professional speaker with the firm of Spotlight Speakers & Entertainers in Carmel, and occasionally performs stand-up comedy in Indiana, Illinois and Missouri. He is also working on a novel "Sub-Leasing Uncle Tom's Cabin; Civil Rights in the 21st Century" through New Century Publishing, an Indianapolis-based publishing company.

Abdul has been recognized for his work in Indianapolis. He was named one of Indianapolis Business Journal's 40 Under 40 in 2006. Also, he and WXNT were recognized by the Associated Press for their coverage of Indianapolis Mayor Bart Peterson's Indy Works program. Abdul had the opportunity to live in Europe for several years as the child of an Army officer. He has one son, Gene, and several brothers and sisters, a few of whom live in the Indianapolis area.
